Frontier Software Systems was established in 1989 when its founder, Ted Leib, introduced CompuSTATS CourtSide to the sports information world at the CoSIDA workshop in Washington, D.C. Ted had been working on a statistical program for keeping realtime stats for basketball television broadcasts. This required a system that allowed a single person to keep all player stats without benefit of a spotter, and to deliver them in real time to the television announcers and/or graphics personnel. CompuSTATS CourtSide for Basketball was born.

Over the past ten years, Frontier has continued to develop quality in-game statistical programs for basketball, volleyball, and ice hockey. Together with SportStat(tm), CompuSTATS CourtSide products deliver a comprehensive statistical package.
